This post is a little different. It’s less “here’s an issue we should be aware of and how we can tackle it“, more “an idea has been bubbling away, I need to write about it and I have a feeling you may be interested.”
Here’s the deal. I’d like to share more with you than simply topics and issues about animals.
Animals are still a huge driving factor for me. I care deeply about the impact we have on the other creatures with which we share our earth, and it remains a big part of the difference I’d like to make (and see) in the world – reducing our negative impact.
I’m also painfully conscious of the broader implications of human impacts on Mother Nature. Particularly when it comes to climate change and sustainability, I feel physical hurt when I think about the issues we’re causing. If you saw my YouTube video review on “An Inconvenient Sequel” you already know this.
As part of this, I think a lot about Zero Waste and many other relevant issues related to climate change and sustainability.
At the same time (and for unrelated reasons, at least initially) I’ve been on a major decluttering mission over the past 12 months. I read Marie Kondo’s “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying” and have actually experienced how it is indeed life-changing. I follow The Minimalists. And slowly – but with gaining momentum – I find myself caring genuinely less about ‘things’ and more about the important stuff – relationships, giving back, health and a meaningful life experience. It’s nothing short of a revelation!
Generally, I am thinking more carefully about my choices, my impact, and how I’d like my life to roll out.
Oh yes. And we’re expecting our first baby early 2018 🙂
“Ok, Nadee, I’ve read this far – when do you get to the part about this being interesting to me?”
So here’s where it is relevant for The Animal Edit.
As someone who is reading this blog (and if you’re here for the first time – welcome! You’re visiting at a pivotal moment) – you are someone who cares about animals in some way. You think about how your choices affect more than just yourself. And you’re willing to at least consider making changes to reduce a potential negative impact.
I’d be willing to bet, then, that (beyond ‘animals’) you also have interest in one or more of these areas. Namely;
Minimalism/ A simpler life
Of course, all of this can relate back to animals. And for me, it does. But I think the world is waking up in a lot of ways, and questioning ‘what we’ve always done’ in order to live more fulfilling, meaningful, deliberate lives.
Is this resonating at all?
If so, you’ll be happy to hear that The Animal Edit is going to start taking on these topics. There’s a lot of content I’d like to cover (and I’ll more than likely bring on more guests to share their expertise) and I’m looking forward to diving in. I don’t 100% know where this will go just yet. All I know is I’m feeling pulled to broaden the scope of this platform.
And I’d love to hear your thoughts. What do you want more of? Less of? Please – share with me or leave a comment below! If you’re seeking ways to live more consciously and be a positive force in our world, I’d love to hear from you and I hope we can share this journey together.
There’s a lot more to come, so I hope you’ll bear with me and be part of the journey, too.
In the meantime and if you’d like to stay up to date, you can join the email list. I won’t spam you – but I will keep you in the loop, share ideas and practical activities I come across that I think you’ll like.
Thank you for reading this far, and I can’t wait to see where the next steps take us!
